Reward & Recognition

Each month, Southwest Regional Medical Center rewards nurses who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, by presenting them with the Daisy award.

The Daisy Award is a nationwide program the rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skills and compassionate care given by nurses’ every day.  Southwest Regional Medical Center is proud to be a Daisy Award Hospital Partner, recognizing one of our nurses with this special honor every quarter.

The Daisy award is in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. The Daisy Foundation was established in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the auto-immune disease at the age of 33. (Daisy is the acronym for diseases attacking the immune system). During Pat’s eight week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided not only to Pat but to everyone in his family.

Our Daisy Award honorees personify Southwest Regional Medical Center remarkable patient experience.  These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care, and they are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community

SWRMED Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, registered nurses (RNs) have a slew of different responsibilities, ranging from health promotion and patient care to consulting with doctors, offering emotional support, and teaching people how best to manage their illness. Join us in thanking nurses for their compassion and extraordinary clinical skills.
